Applicants from colleges of applied arts and technology


Depending on the program, the grade received and the number of years completed in the program, students or graduates of a college program may be admitted to an appropriate program at Laurentian University with transfer credits.

Admission to an Arts program with an appropriate three-year diploma  

Grade: cumulative GPA of A (completed program)
Program: College-University Arts Degree Completion Program

If admitted, students must complete a minimum of six or seven full courses (36 to 42 credits) for a general (3-year) Arts degree, or at least eight or nine full courses (48 to 54 credits) for a specialized (4-year) degree depending on the degree of affinity between the college and university programs.

Grade: cumulative GPA of B
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 36 credits

Grade: cululative GPA of C+
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 24 credits

Admission to an Arts program with an appropriate two-year diploma

Grade: cumulative GPA of A (completed program)

If admitted, students must complete a minimum of eigh or nine full courses (48 to 54 credits) for a general (3-year) Arts degree, or at least 13 or 14 full courses (78 to 84 credits) for a specialized or honours degree depending on the degree of affinity between the college and university programs.

Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 24 credits

Grade: cululative GPA of C+
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 12 credits

Admission to non-Arts programs with an appropriate three-year diploma   

Grade: cumulative GPA of A
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 36 credits

Grade: cumulative GPA of B
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 24 credits

Grade: cululative GPA of C+
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 18 credits

Admission to non-Arts programs with an appropriate two-year diploma

Grade: cumulative GPA of A
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 30 credits

Grade: cumulative GPA of B
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 18 credits

Grade: cululative GPA of C+
Transfer credits: up to a maximum of 12 credits

Admission to Laurentian after one year of college studies    

Grade: minimum cumulative GPA of C+
Applicants may be admitted to the first year of an appropriate program for a one-year probationary period. The student must successfully complete 24 of the first 30 credits, and maintain a 60% overall average, to clear the probationary status.

Articulation agreements
In addition to the College-University Arts Degree Completion Program and advanced standing policies, Laurentian University, Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, Sault College and Georgian College have signed a number of articulation agreements. These are designed to enhance student mobility among these institutions through formal recognition of credits and programs at each institution. Contact the Office of Admissions for details.

Enrolment:  Only a limited number of students are admitted to first-year. Applicants who meet the minimum entrance requirements are not guaranteed admission.

Application procedure (full-time studies)
All candidates who wish to study in a full-time degree program must complete the OUAC 105 form, which is available online at www.ouac.on.ca

Application procedure (part-time studies)
Candidates who wish to study on a part-time basis must apply for admission directly to Laurentian University. You must fill out and send the Admission Form as well as the Fees Invoice form, along with the appropriate admission fee.  Both forms are located on our Admission Forms page.
