Mission, Vision, and Philosophy

The philosophy of the School of Nursing at Laurentian University is consistent with, and reflective of, the common beliefs of nurses in education and practice, both nationally and internationally. Our programs are influenced by, and exist within, sociological, cultural, and political landscapes, as well as individual perspectives. The School of Nursing's philosophy is nurtured by humanistic, existential, phenomenological, and socially-critical orientations, as is obvious in the way its faculty view nursing, professional caring, persons, health and healing, and curriculum.
