Mission

Our Mission

Laurentian University's Policies and Agreements provide the flexibility to the university community member to determine whether the IPMO's role will be on a direct, indirect or a consultative basis to the commercialization of research output. This position therefore influences the mission of the IPMO.

The mission of the IPMO is to provide to the Laurentian University community (faculty, researchers, administration, employees and students) directly and through a collaborative network of partners the full spectrum of technology transfer activities.

To accomplish this mission and deliver the identified services , the IPMO does the following:

• On its own initiative or by request, informs the university community on various elements of intellectual property protection and commercialization and the overall process.

• Works with the Research Office and other departments to provide support in the area of research and related contracts.

• Liaises with technology offices at other universities and with external parties who are interested in the commercialization of research from the university or who act as partners in the commercialization process.

• Acts as a resource in assisting university officers with policy decisions related to intellectual property.
